Airline Cards: Are they worth it?

Airline cards, these branded cards signal a partnership between a card issuer and some of your favorite travel loyalty programs and today we are going to tackle the principle of these types of cards and if it is in your best interest to apply for one or not. The first thing you need to look at is if you're interested in travel, because if you aren't then obviously you don't even need to look at these options. the second thing you need to look at is if you're loyal enough to a single airline to warrant getting one of these cards, you also have to take in consideration where is it that you want to travel or where is it that you mostly travel to, if you're looking to travel abroad your best bet would be to look at what airline goes to the places that you most want to travel to, if you're looking to travel to Europe then my suggestion would be to pick a card belonging to a airline like Iberia or British Airways, if you're someone that travels a lot domesti...

Life after corona virus: Top destinations to visit during second half of the year

With the COVID-19 virus taking the world by storm and leaving us quarantined in our respective homes, us here at Points Nomads have decided to look onward and focus on what your next trip should be after all of this is over. Assuming that this situation with the corona virus is settled around or nearing the end of summer then we don't have any problem with planning for our next getaway for early fall, this time of the year is perfect for traveling because a lot of places are getting off of the tourist high that summer brings, flights and hotels are cheaper and the weather is still nice enough for you to enjoy everything that these places have to offer, so let's start looking at which places should you be visiting during the second half of the year.

First on the list is the ever beautiful Barcelona, Spain, this bustling and energetic city can be a bit hard to work with during the summer with all the lines and huge crowds making it hard to be able to get to the best attractions like La Sagrada Familia, not to mention that it's very difficult getting around historic areas like Barri Gotic and Las Ramblas because of the overcrowded streets, that's why it's better to take the trip during September, you don't have to worry about the city being too bustling, you can enjoy it all with cooled down temperatures and if you go late into the month you get to take in the site of La Merce, a celebration that includes parades, acrobats and all around entertainment.

Next up is the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, September is one of the best months to go to this beautiful city since it is springtime in the Southern Hemisphere. You get to comfortably enjoy all the tourist attractions like Paseo del Rosedal, walk the streets of Palermo and take in the Fair of the Mataderos market. With flights and hotel rates being so cheap around this time it makes it very hard for someone to resist going down south for a worthwhile experience like this.

If there was ever a time that you wanted to go to Hawaii, there isn't a better time to do so than mid to late September. The city of Honolulu on the island of Oahu for the most part is expensive most of the year since it's such a huge tourist getaway, mainly because of the beautiful beaches, the festivals, island hospitality, you name it, you can find and enjoy all of these and more without needing to dig too deep into your wallet, plus you don't have to deal with too much of the heat that comes with the summertime. Enjoy a pleasant hike to Diamond Head, relax under the sun in Waikiki Beach or if you're into history like myself you can visit the World War II Valor in the Pacific Monument. If you've been wondering when is the best time to visit Hawaii money wise, this is the moment to do it.

Now moving a little farther into the year we have our top of the bucket list pick, Cape Town, South Africa, most people pay more attention to Europe or South America for end of year travel destinations but if there is one place that isn't short on things to do, food to try and festivals it's Cape Town. For October being so close to summertime the weather is fairly good withs daytime highs hitting in the 70 degrees ballpark. There is no shortage of things to do in this sprawling city from taking a cable car to the top of Table Mountain to see a beautiful site of flowers in full bloom to diving with sharks on the amazing beaches on the cape or if you're feeling a little fancy try your hand at going to Spier Wine Farm to enjoy one of the best wineries around accompanied with some amazing dining. And if all of this still isn't enough to entice you on visiting you can also enjoy the Cape Town Diwali Festival and the Cape Town International Kite Festival during this month.

Best Amex Card Pairings: Which combination is best for you

Hello my fellow travel enthusiasts, today I am going to be talking about the different card combinations you can make with amex cards to help you save on your daily expenses and get you ever closer to those long awaited vacations you've been wanting. The first thing you need to do is look at your expenses, what is it that you're spending more money on and what expenses aren't worth taking advantage of, let's say that you're more of a cook at home person than a dine out person, if this is the case then you're not gonna get a card that saves you on restaurants, you're gonna look for a card that saves you on groceries, makes sense doesn't it? This same approach you're going to take with all your other expenses until you have the math down, after you've gotten all your expenses straightened out it's finally time to go credit card hunting. Now, American Express has a wide array of credit cards to choose from that cover a wide range of expens...

Setting a foundation for your credit card strategy: Starter cards

Just as with any type of construction project, your card strategy should have a solid foundation to support your future credit card construct. There are a number of cards that can make up a good base, these foundational pieces are known as starter cards, these are cards that mainly don't have an annual fee and are fairly easy to get without that much credit history, though some of these cards may not provide reward points they are still very useful especially if you're interested more in cash back rather than rewards but the real purpose of these cards is to get your foot in the door of banks like Chase and American Express so you can have access to their respective premier travel cards. These cards might be fairly easy to get but that doesn't mean that you'll be approved without first going through the motions, first off, if you don't have any type of credit card on your credit history you'll have a hard time tryin to get starter cards from Ch...
